“The Electronic Frontier Foundation writes to oppose HB 2730, as it would severely undercut the free speech protections Texans enjoy under the Texas Citizens Participation Act (TCPA) and open the door to vexatious lawsuits designed to silence dissent. EFF agrees with the Texas Free Speech Coalition that HB 2730 would effectively gut the broad protections that the TCPA provides and ultimately deter people from exercising their right to speak out, and to speak critically, about events that matter to Texas residents.
